I had a fun time today sorting some of Gary’s kayaking gear with Janette. It felt good to tell some of my favourite stories about him, laugh a little and well... check out these sweet gems I found! #oldskoolhelmet #googlyeyes #griefandlaughter #gratitude
Dear Mom, Today I celebrate your arrival in this world 72 years ago. I celebrate your laugh, your smile, your compassionate, gentle nature and your firm, practical advice. I am grateful for your openness, your love and for you bringing me into this world. You continue to teach me even though we can no longer share touch or talk on the phone. I love you with all my heart dearest mother, happy birthday!!! I miss you!
Gary Doran - You will remain forever in my memory as a gentle, humble and passionate mentor. Our first meeting was a memorable one, one you would never let me forget... the time i “killed the clients” on my first kayak instructor program at the age of 18, when I tried to take my group across Baynes channel in a gale. Thank you for failing me. Since then I have had the privilege to paddle with you, work with you and learn from you. I will miss our discussions about low braces, the value of supplements and what you are going to do with that gaff pole you found on that cold day in the gulf islands examining Level 2 guides. Thank you for sharing in your life and in your death. You will no doubt continue to inspire and teach me, if only though remembering to take my vitamins and make sure to check the weather - which arguably are great ways to live!!! You will be missed Gary! #garebear
Just finished a super fun and laughter filled 3 days working with an inspired group of paddlers from Prince Rupert and Terrace BC!!! Who knew there was so much to know about paddling... and how fun it would be to learn!?! We did!! @skils.ca @kokatatusa @wernerpaddles @nikkirekmansales @sealsskirts @sterlingskayaks
I had an amazing weekend up in Haida Gwaii with a small but most amazing group of #SKGABC guides at our Spring Guide’s exchange. From on water technical skills and rescues to hiking the amazing mountains of this wild place, we feasted on halibut and drank in each other’s stories!! It was truly an amazing time on this remote island! #Gratutude to @greencoastkayaking and @oceansoundkayaking for hosting us up here!!! @wernerpaddles @kokatatusa @nikkirekmansales @sealsskirts
Poetry is often surprising to me. Today I opened up my heart and this just fell out. Full moon poetry... haven’t written in a while. It feels good. #innerwildernessadventures
Today, like waking up from a long dark winters sleep, I felt the warmth of sun on my skin, heard the busy sound of bees gathering nectar and had my eyes opened to the wonderous sights of blossoms pushing through once frozen ground... it’s a great start! A good friend reminded me... “The planet does not need more successful people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds. -Dalai Lama” #thelightnessofdark #innerwildernessadventures #realness
It’s flip-flop season!!! I just got gifted these beautiful #handmade knit socks from @elizpur !!! They are so comfy and make early sandal weather so much more bearable!!! Thanks @elizpur !!!
